From September 12 to 27, 2025, Besançon invites you to experience 16 days of musical excitement with the 78th edition of its famous festival. From the

Besançon International Music Festival: a rich and daring program
Every year, this unmissable event brings the city and region to life with the sounds of the greatest composers.
Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Shostakovich, as well as Satie, Ravel, and Bizet—whose anniversaries will be celebrated this year—will accompany you on a multifaceted sonic journey.
You will also have the opportunity to discover women composers who are still underperformed, as well as the creations of composer-in-residence Régis Campo. Chamber and vocal music are also featured, with the Parisii Quartet, the Cassard-Grimal-Gastinel trio, and the Sequenza 9.3 and La Sportelle ensembles, among others.

International Competition for Young Conductors, from September 22nd to 27th. A highlight, dedicated to talent and emotion.
In total, more than 35 musical events await you during the Besançon International Music Festival, with a few musical excursions in the region (Arc-et-Senans, Vesoul, Dole, etc.).
New for 2025
The opening of the Festival has been redesigned: eight free concerts will take place in the heart of the city, while the first symphonic concert will take place in the Ledoux Theater. And to extend your evenings, head to the Festival Club, a new relaxation and
meeting space open to artists and the public.
