Discover the Cité des Arts at the foot of the Besançon Citadel
An exceptional museum in its entirety
Nestled in the Franche-Comté region, the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain (FRAC) is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside.
From its inception until 2005, it was housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dole, less than an hour from Besançon.
It was not until 2013 that it moved to the capital of the Doubs department in an architectural building designed by Kengo Kuma. Kuma likes to link the environment to art.
The FRAC is located on the banks of the Doubs. It is easily recognisable thanks to its green roof, its certified ecological equipment and its restaurant on the ground floor.
Each of your visits will be enlivened by new exhibitions focusing on the contemporary world.
The 2023 exhibitions not to be missed
There are various types of exhibitions in the art museum: permanent, temporary, monographic and group exhibitions.
Here are some of the exhibitions that you will be able to see at the FRAC in 2023:
- Monographic exhibition by Marina De Caro, Chromotopie de la Désobéissance ;
- Exhibition at the Mont-Roland school group on borders;
- Group exhibition on the Beauty of the Devil...
To meet art outside the walls of the FRAC, partnerships and parallel projects are also taking place throughout the Franche-Comté region.
