2026 Besançon Trail des Forts, taking place from
May 8th to 10th, returns with its iconic routes blending nature, fortifications, and unique panoramic views of the Doubs River.
This
23rd edition promises once again an exceptional atmosphere in the heart of a city steeped in history.
A sporting weekend in the heart of heritage
Between the climbs to the wooded hills, the crossing of the
UNESCO-listed ramparts, and the unmissable passage through
the Citadel, runners will experience a true immersion in the spirit of Besançon.
The city center becomes a
strategic hub: starting points, food areas, entertainment, and spectator zones are all concentrated there throughout the event.

Main Formats
- 62 km – 2400 m elevation gain (solo or relay) – Full course of the 10 forts
- 42 km – 1300 m elevation gain
- 22 km – 600 m elevation gain
- 17 km duo – 560 m elevation gain
- 11 km – 330 m elevation gain (hike + run)
- 5.4 km night race – 140 m elevation gain

3-Event Challenge
Combo: 22 km + 11 km + 5 km, limited to a certain number of participants.
