Take advantage of your stay in Besançon to discover an extraordinary art collection!
Located only 10 minutes by car from our Hotel Foch in Besançon, the Museum of Resistance and Deportation (MRD) houses the largest collection of deported art in France.
An exceptional testimony in a symbolic place
The museum is located in the heart of the Besançon Citadel, where one hundred resistance fighters were shot during the Occupation. A memorial in their honor has been erected in the center of the Citadel.
Relive the history of the Second World War:
- The rise of Nazism in Germany
- The Occupation and the Vichy regime
- The Resistance and the Deportation during an exhibition with about twenty rooms.
Each of them is full of historical documents and poignant testimonies about the darkest hours of our history.
